Hi! Welcome to Frisbie St., an alternative art space in Oakland, CA (located at 204 Frisbie St.) for artists to exhibit their work and for the community to gather to enjoy and create art.
Informally started in July of 2008 and formally launched in May 2009, Frisbie St. hosts one-weekend shows to highlight emerging and innovative artists in solo and group exhibitions.
Frisbie St. also facilitates Art Days throughout the year with fun, hands-on art activities for adults and kids.
In addition to being an informal art gallery and community space, Frisbie St. is also my home and art studio.
Why open up my living space in this way? Because this is what I have to offer and share. Frisbie St. is a tangible expression of how I want to live my daily life and participate in our community – with openness, generosity, creativity and love.
Using my space in this way is a natural evolution from two art shows I had last year for friends and family. The space was perfect for a full solo exhibition of my artwork, which would have been difficult to secure in a local gallery as a new emerging artist.
There is a fantastic and thriving arts community in Oakland and the Bay Area. I am excited to offer Frisbie St. as another resource for artists and as an informal gathering place for creative Art Days for adults and kids.
